Thanks to the continuing generosity of Ray Kimber of Kimber Kable, we are able to offer his recording of The Fry Street Quartet as part of the Audio Asylum Asian Tsunami Victim Support Auction.
This set consists of 2 hybrid SACDs, with audio in stereo redbook, stereo DSD and 4-channel DSD. Ray recorded the group using his unique Iso-Mike techniques and technology, resulting in stunningly clear and transparent sound, with amazing hall-ambience.
The Fry Street Quartet is the Faculty String-Quartet-in-Residence at Utah State University, and has played with such notables as Mischa Dichter, Paul Katz, and Joseph Kalichstein.
The program of this recording includes pieces by Beethoven Stravinsky, Rorem and Scearce. Full notes are on the linked site.
