  Bidder registration for Charity Auctions

We hope to provide bidders with excellent buying opportunities on the latest gear being debuted. Audiogon.com will act as the auctioneer for manufacturers and dealers, whose products will be on the block. We will also forward all proceeds to the Elf Foundation.

We intend to run an exciting, well organized auction for this worthy cause. To insure bidders of a high quality playing field, we are requiring a special agreement from all would-be bidders, and pre-registration specifically for these auctions.

Bidder's Premium
5.0% added to your winning bid.
There will be a 5.0% fee added to each winning bid. ex: if you win an auction for $100.00, your final price will be $105.00 plus shipping costs. This fee is to cover costs such as credit card processing, phone calls, etc.

10.0% penalty if bid is defaulted.
If you are the winning bidder of an auction, but unable or unwilling to purchase the item, you agree to pay a penalty in the amount of 10.0% of your winning bid amount, regardless of whether anyone else purchases the item. Please be very sure that are able and willing to purchase an item before you bid. It takes great cooperation and organization to bring you these auctions, so we must insist on serious bidding activities.

Payment Options
Credit cards ONLY
Payments must be processed electronically, and they must be processed immediately.  Thus we can accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express only.  We were not able to link with Discover this year, sorry.

Credit card required before bid submission.
Your credit card info will be stored on a secure server until the close of auctions.  The disk will then be erased to insure the security of your credit card info.  There will be no charges to your credit card for anything other than this event.

Credit card limit may be verified
If you are the leading bidder near the end of the auction, we may choose to verify your credit card's limit, to insure that it could cover your bid should you win.  This process may place a temporary "hold" on your card in the amount of your bid.  However, nothing will be charged unless you are indeed the winner.

Credit card will be charged ONLY if you win.
If you do not win any auctions, then your credit card will not be charged at all.  If you are the winner of one or more auctions, you will receive emails for each auction, notifying you of the total including shipping charges. Each auction will be charged separately, so if you win more than one auction, separate charges will appear on your statement.

More than one credit card?
When you proceed to the sign-up form, you will be able to indicate that you need to use more than one credit card for your purchases.  Please look for that checkbox on the form.

Shipping options
Buyer pays shipping
Bidders should assume they will be paying the shipping costs. In some cases, the donor may decide to include shipping as part of their donation, but all buyers should assume that a bid means "plus shipping".

Some items may ship directly from the show
Some of the items may be at the show in San Francisco, in which case they will ship directly to the winning bidders on either June 9th or Jun 10th. All bidders must be able to receive shipments from June 11th through June 18th. If the buyer is not able to receive shipments in that time, then the buyer will need to pay additional shipping costs for the item to return to the seller first, and then ship to the buyer.

United Parcel Service, NON-GROUND only, USA only
UPS will be the default shipper whenever possible.  However, ground shipments are far too risky for high end equipment, so "2-day" or "3-day select" will be used depending on shipping distance, and type of product. 

BAX Global for large items or overseas shipments
Overseas and Canadian bidders should investigate shipping options at the BAX website.  BAXGlobal is a well organized freight company that excels in overseas shipments.  Their rates are competitive with most other worldwide shippers. 

Audiogon.com and the seller will determine shipping method
We will work with the dealer or manufacturer to determine the safest yet economical method of shipment, based upon your geographic location.  Due to the physical and time constraints of shipping these items, we will need to choose from a limited number of options.  Only the above two shipping methods will be possible.  Please investigate the shipper websites above, so that you will be aware of the general rates. 

All shipments will be fully insured
Shipping costs will include the purchase of insurance from the shipper, to cover the full amount of the purchase price.

Buyer responsible for duties
Overseas bidders agree to pay any and all importation costs, such as duties or taxes, customs clearing costs, or any other costs resulting from overseas shipments.  We strongly encourage non-US bidders to research these possible charges before bidding. Shipments will be declared for the exact purchase price of the item, and we will include several copies of the manifesto.
